Joint VA/DOD Site Launches Health Record System

It is the final Defense Department medical site to begin using the new system.

The Joint Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense medical site in North Chicago has deployed the new federal electronic health records system, making it the final Defense Department location to launch. Officials hope the use of the software at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center will increase the VA’s adoption.

“We believe that it is important for us to operate as an integrated system,” VA’s Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office Acting Director Neil Evans said. “We want to make sure that we are integrated and functioning as a cohesive whole, and making sure this will work as expected. We’re not concerned about unleashing new issues.”

The VA had paused new site deployments in April 2023 due to issues with staff training and system readiness.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary McDonough and VA officials as they continue the roll-out of the new federal health record system.
  • For leaders in the Pentagon as they collaborate on the care of veterans at joint medical sites.
